if you listened to the radio show "The Takeaway," you would have heard Todd Zwillich try and put down Presidential candidate Rand Paul and suggest that government surveillance of our private lives is a good thing. He characterized Rand Paul protestation against the surveillance parts of the Patriot Act as ranting. He used the words of Senator John Mc Cain to question the sincerity of Rand Paul's position on government surveillance Todd Zwillich would like us to believe that the only reason that Rand Paul would stand for hours on the Senate floor arguing against government surveillance was to raise funds. He even suggested thaf it was done for selling Rand Paul t shirts.
The word ranting is used here by Mr. Zwillich to try and take away from the substance of what is being said by Senator Rand Paul He is using the word to dismiss Rand Paul and to dismiss the argument he makes ;suggesting that neither the idea nor the person have credibility.
When asked by John Hockenberry about the likelihood of the house approved US Freedom Act, Mr. Zwillich positively gushed that it certainly of passage was so sure as to suggest that the opponents of government surveillance like Senator Paul can make no difference on the outcome.
Every argument against government intrusion into our private life is justified even if it is wrong. So, Senator Paul keep on " ranting, we here you!
